If you’re like me and love good food and also amazing views, this one is for you. My mum and I recently tried out The View from the Shard and Afternoon Tea at Oblix east through Virgin experiences.

It started off with a trip to the viewing point of the shard. There are few viewing points, you can head up to level 68 and 69 for a sensational view of the city, or, and I would say this is a must, head up to the 72nd level, and that is the open air platform! This is amazing, you’re exposed to the elements, you’re safe, don’t worry, it’s got all of the glass around the edges still, but it basically doesn’t have a roof! You really feel on top of the world! Once we took a few snaps, had a wander around, oh whilst you’re up there, make sure you visit the toilets… it sounds weird, but all I’m going to say it truly is a loo with a view! If you haven’t ever visited The Shard, you really must visit, it’s such a spectacular building and the views from the top are incredible.

Unfortunately, we went on the day is heavily snowed so the visibility wasn’t great, it really felt like we were up above London in a winter wonderland, which was magical! Luckily, I have been before and have experienced the views, so I’m confident in saying it is wonderful up there!

Next on our girly afternoon day out, it was time for my favourite bit. The afternoon tea. Whether you call it Afternoon tea, high tea or fancy tea, it’s a treat, and there’s something special about enjoying an afternoon tea in London, the place where it was born.

We had afternoon tea in Oblix restaurant which is on the 33rd floor. We dined on finger sandwiches and delicate sweet treats. All of the ingredients used are locally sourced too! There warm scones were absolutely delicious, that’s always my favourite bit!

My mum and I relaxed, ate, had a glass of champagne to celebrate life and had a good girly giggle whilst looking out on to the city. We live in this crazy busy world where sometimes precious time with loved ones doesn’t happen often, so it was so lovely and special to spend some quality time with my mum.

As I’ve got older, I’d much prefer to make memories and do something rather than receive a materialistic gift (although I do like those too;-)). Click here to have a look at the experience we enjoyed, it would make such a special gift this Christmas! For any late Christmas shoppers out there, (me included!) this is an instant gift as you can download the e-voucher! Et Voila, amazing gift all sorted in minutes, so no worries about whether the post man is going to deliver it in time or not, you will not be disappointing anyone this Christmas!

This post is sponsored by Virgin Experiences, but all view and opinions are my own.

I’m definitely going to have to keep this one in mind! I have been to London more times than I can count at this point and have never been here! I have loads of friends who want to go to London and it gets a bit tedious at times if I go with them and have to repeat all the tourist stuff for the thousandth time. I’ll definitely keep this one in mind for a way to change it up next time!
