Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel

Last year when I was travelling, it made me realise actually how lovely the UK is and I needed to see more of it! It has taken me a year to visit somewhere new in the UK, so a couple of weeks ago, a weekend was spent in Exeter, better later than never!

It was such a lovely, cute and pretty city, the weather was glorious too which always makes things better! There were plenty of decent restaurants and bars too, I’m always on the hunt for a good restaurant!

We stayed at the gorgeous Victorian Mercure Rougement hotel, it was right in the middle of Exeter city, so it was super easy to walk everywhere and explore! The room was super spacious and had the biggest bed. We could both pretty much starfish and not touch… #couplegoals

The city had all the usual high street shops which was nice to have a mooch around and then we wandered down to the quay. You can hire out a pedalo in the quay too but the sun made me feel all sleepy so I couldn’t think of anything worse than pedalo’in around! Instead, we opted for some comfy chairs in the sun and I had a small shandy, lad.

It wouldn’t be a trip to Devon if I didn’t have any scones with Devonshire cream right? This was the part I was most excited about! We had afternoon tea at the Rougemont hotel, and, all I can say was I had to have a nap after! There were so many delicious cakes and scones, I couldn’t finish them all but I had a good go at it!

A lovely relaxed weekend, in the sunshine, lots of eating, gorgeous hotel. A winning weekend!

Major selling point of the hotel….. Five Guys is right opposite. SOLD!

As if there is now a Five Guys in Exeter!! I used to go to Uni there between 2008-2011 and it sounds like a lot has changed – I will have to go back, especially for a cream tea! Steph x
