Last week I had the pleasure of staying at the Mercure Burford Bridge Hotel in Box Hill, and attended their Foodie Masterclass.
I can’t remember the last time I had a night away in the UK, I always think of leaving the UK for a few days, but after 4 months of travelling earlier in the year, it actually made me realise how much the UK has to offer.
The Burford Bridge hotel is located in beautiful settings, so peaceful in the countryside but very accessible from the M25.
I took my mum with me, checked in around 2pm and just completely relaxed in my dressing gown (I was so happy when I arrived and there were robes in the room!), watched a bit of TV, had a bath and mini pamper sesh! You can’t believe how good a couple of hours relaxing and self-pampering really makes you feel.
The Masterclass was held in the evening at the hotel. We went in to the hotel’s kitchen, I’d never really been in to a proper kitchen before, apart from seeing it in films where they always try to make their getaway through the kitchen! We were really lucky to have the head chef, talk us through and watch him prepare the 3 course meal he was going to cook for us. He went in to so much detail which was so interesting! I had no idea how much preparation, thought and effort really did go in to being a chef!
Then once we had seen all dishes prepared, we moved on to the restaurant and was served the 3 courses, along with wine pairing. It was such a lovely luxury experience and the food, well, honestly, it was INCREDIBLY delicious.
It’s definitely made me re-think about staying in the UK! If you’re looking to do something special leading up to Christmas or a little treat in January, I would absolutely recommend this hotel and masterclass!
