Well hello, hello!
Laura’s Little Locket was created in January 2014. The reason for starting my blog was that I wanted a creative outlet, somewhere I could write, play around with photography, and most importantly, share my personal style. Since then, I have posted every single Sunday, there have been a few exceptions, like when I was travelling. I don’t think my very few travelling outfits were blog worthy! I really want to share and add a more personal touch to my blog, so today we’ve got a personal one talking a little about my blogging journey!
I have learned so much from blogging and have had some really amazing experiences working with a huge variety of brands. I love doing it and I actually think I’d feel lost without it!
Like a lot of other bloggers, I juggle full time work whilst blogging which isn’t easy. I have to be super organised and use weekends wisely! It’s harder through winter as its dark in the mornings and evenings, leaving you only with the weekend to shoot. Then, if it’s raining, well you just have to pray that it stops! Recently I have been shooting outfits in ‘batches’ so I have a bank of images ready to post which makes it easier and more manageable.
With anything in life, there are ups and downs. Sometimes I feel full of inspiration for blog posts ideas and other times, not so much. Now, I don’t want to get all negative nancy on you, but I want this to be a real and honest post. Blogging is a very over saturated place and it is so easy to become so critical of yourself. I often see other bloggers working on projects/campaigns and it does make you feel like ‘why haven’t I been able to do that’. It’s the same with photography as well, I see other bloggers with really amazing photography and you can’t help but compare against yours. I’ve been blogging for 2 years and 11 months, and I still work full time, I see other bloggers who have blogged for a lot less time and have been able do it full time. So all in all, blogging has made me more critical of myself and my work more than ever.
I would never give up my blog because any of this, at the end of the day, I write my blog because it makes me happy and I love to do it. I guess all of those things I spoke about above, just make you strive to be better and doesn’t allow you to get complacent. Also it goes to prove that blogging is a real thing and you can go so far with it! I think in the world we live in, it is so easy to get bogged down with things like this, but we have to remember we are all individual, we have our own style and do things our very own way. If we did things like others, then it wouldn’t be our very own thing would it?
Blogging has opened so many doors for me. It’s a place for me to be myself and share the things I love. I’ve learnt so much from creating the actual blog, to photography, to SEO (search engine optimisation), to analytics, the list is actually endless. So many things I didn’t expect to learn from it that I have. I couldn’t be more grateful for the experiences and opportunities I’ve had from a little website I created hungover on New Year’s day 2014!
I’m excited to be adding more personal things to the blog, so watch this space!
Lots of love
