I went to London yesterday with my friends as it was a couple of their birthdays so did a joint shindig. It’s pretty standard in our friendship group that with every birthday also comes an afternoon tea. I am definitely not complaining as it is one of my favourite things to do in the city but I need a break, I am a bit caked out! We went to a restaurant called Lanes of London, it was attached to the Marriott hotel on Park Lane. The decor was fresh, light and airy, the sun was beaming in and it was a very beautiful location.

I’m cutting right to the coat. How amazing is it! I couldn’t resist wearing it already and had to base the rest of the outfit around the coat. It’s only been part of my life for 4 days and I am already head over heels in love. The pictures make it look white but it’s more of an ivory colour. It is quite big, but I love the oversized coat look and you can get away with it with this style. The colour is absolutely perfect for the spring time and you can pretty much wear this with anything. The only bugger with this, is that it is dry clean only and me being the messy pup I am, I have already got it a little dirty. We are in the 21st century, is dry cleaning really necessary now! It’s got deep pockets on the front which is so handy as you know things won’t fall out like those silly small side pockets on some coats. It’s all about the convenience.

I knew it was going to be fairly sunny and warm so I didn’t want to wear jeans, boots and a coat because lets face it, us Brits love to make the most of the warm weather.

After emptying the contents of my wardrobe and creating a ‘floordrobe’, I finally found something I was happy with. The shorts are so old but I forgot how handy it is to have a staple pair of black shorts. As the coat and shorts were plain, I needed something more for the top, this cute little gingham Topshop top came in perfectly.

I feel like half of my body is in summer mode and half in winter as I am still loving all my black chunky boots. I need to find some casual spring boot/shoe type thing!

If you spotted the bird poop on the chairs behind, sorry! I only just noticed after I had done the photos. If you hadn’t, well you have noticed now. I’ll find a cleaner spot next time, or wash the chair… any takers?!

Hope you’ve made the most of the warm weather this weekend and had a lovely day with your mummy’s. My mumma is my bestie, I don’t know what I would do without. I’m a very lucky girly!

Lots of love

I love your style so much! That coat looks so gorgeous on you, just wondering how did you find out/get to attend that John Lewis event you went the other evening? 🙂 Kathleen xxx
