Afternoon Tea – London Hilton Park Lane in Mayfair
Yesterday my friend and I went in to London for a spot of Afternoon Tea. It was a birthday present to her as she loves this kind of thing, so do I actually!
So I called this post ‘Girly Get-up’ as I do feel this is an ultra girly look. Usually I try to stay away from girly girly but I did want to go for something a little more sophisticated, smarter and sharp as we were being ‘ladies of leisure’ for the day! Wearing the pastels and the check skirt, did turn pretty girly so I added my chunky platform suede boots to mix it up a little. I clomped around in these all day feeling smug as they didn’t hurt my feet one bit. I’m 5’4, not blessed with much height, so they give me a couple of extra inches too! May I add, I even walked/ran up the stairs at Marylebone in these bad boys. If you haven’t been to Marylebone before, there are a lot of steps…. I felt guilty for over indulging that afternoon!
If you have been reading my blog, you may have spotted another coat. In one of my posts from last weekend I mentioned that I’m having bit of a coat craving this season. I ditched the camel one so I could have this one instead. Mint is probably my favourite colour, I think it really suits my complexion and it will be perfect for spring/summer too. I wonder how long it will stay looking so clean and no spills on it! Pastels and checks have got to be my most loved thing at the moment. They are so versatile and reminds me of pick-and-mix! You really can mix and match and its a fun combination to play around with. Pretty things like pastels brighten up this dull weather and gets in the spring summer mode, which I can’t wait for!
New Look isn’t a regular shop for me but the other day I had a browse and surprisingly saw a few pieces including this skirt which caught my eye. They didn’t have my size so I ordered online. I was so happy when it arrived, and pretty shocked it was from new look. Its a great fit and for only around £18 (I think) its quite the bargain. The material is a little itchy but I just made sure my top and my tights met underneath so it couldn’t itch me!
On to the glam grub, delicious. I’m sure many of you have had the luxury of having afternoon tea, but if you haven’t, you must try it. First thoughts are often, hmmm are these small little sandwiches really going to fill me up? The thing is, if you was only having sandwiches then yes I would be disappointed as they don’t really fill your belly, but you don’t want them to when you know whats coming next. After sandwiches which could come in all different shapes and sizes, you are delighted with a towered tray of goodies! Yesterday ours was filled with warm fresh scones on the bottom, flavoured cup cakes on the middle and as our afternoon tea was chocoholic themed, the top layer was a fully edible chocolate artists palette topped with beautiful hand crafted treats. One of the main things I love about afternoon tea, is the tea itself. It’s no PG tips or Tetley, it’s real tea leaves. You have to strain them and the taste is out of this world. I’m considering maybe getting some for home as a treat, time to time, with a cute little tea cup and saucer! I’m getting old before my time.
The manager kindly showed us Galvin at Windows whilst we was there which is a Michelin-starred restaurant and bar located on the 28th floor of the Hilton hotel. The views were amazing, and to think you could sit and dine with those views is incredible! We looked at the menu as it was pretty pricey but for a special occasion or if you are looking to dine with a view, you should consider this!
One last thing I want to quickly say is, GROUPON! I usually get my afternoon tea vouchers from them and they do amazing deals which saves you so much money! Check it out!
Thank you for reading and I hope you have enjoyed it- If you have any afternoon tea recommendations, please do let me know as I would love to try them
