Thought I would change it up this week and include a beauty post! As much as I love clothes, shoes and jewellery, I also have a lusting love for beauty products and make up.
“Your skin, and your whole body, goes into repair mode when you sleep,” says Day, who wrote the book Forget the Facelift.
It’s so important to go to bed with clean, nourished skin. “While you sleep, your skin renews itself. New skin cells grow and replace older cells. “It’s repairing and restoring and rebalancing,” Day says.
Using a moisturiser at night is great, but incorporating an oil or serum to your skincare is even better. Serums and oils penetrate deeper in to the skin reaching those lower layers whilst moistuiser only sinks in to the top few. Combining both can really help and improve your skin. Over night is the best time to really treat your face. Remember lots of water too! We all want to have the youthful, glowy skin forever!
For Christmas I received the midnight recovery concentrate and eye cream. (I did pick them!) I have now been using them for around 3 weeks. They feels luxurious to hold, they are both presented in a royal blue glass jar and plastic tube both with the gold writing. Slightly more up-marking looking than their standard black and white packaging. They are both packed with natural ingredients and free of all the baddies. They have a very fresh scent to them with a hint of lavender but it isn’t overpowering and you won’t smell like an old lady! I love the smell, perfect for a night time skin care.
Each night I cleanse and tone my face. I then apply the eye cream gently using my ring finger (the one next to your pinkie) dabbing around my eye area. Kiehl’s say “Specifically formulated for the delicate under-eye area to achieve fresher, younger looking eyes by morning by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.” I really don’t think there are that many products that actually do as they say on the tin, but I have noticed differences from this, mainly a brighter, more hydrated under eye. The eye care is a rich creamy consistency compared to the concentrate.
Following on, I take 2-3 drops of the concentrate using the pip-pet and pat this on and around my face. This product comes with the slogan, “one night, two drops” and that is all you really need as it goes so far. I feel like this will never run as as you use so little. Sometimes I find my skin oily, so I was wary about using this. Fear not, this isn’t a ‘greasy oil’ its more of a ‘dry oil’. When I apply it, I feel like I am replenishing my skin from any damage and every day ‘wear and tear’ on my skin. It’s a dream to use, smells delicious and feels so hydrating. After using this for around 3 weeks, I have found my skin to be more radiant, fresher looking and for me, the most important thing is that it has evened out my skin. Since I can remember I have had that annoying combination skin, I do still get slightly dry/dehydrated areas but its a lot more even and easier to manage. When I wake up, I don’t feel like I’ve been working in a greasy chip shop all night at all, it feels healthy, rejuvenated and full of goodness!
Hope you have enjoyed my first beauty post, I am no beauty expert but t I am a massive lover of these two products, they haven’t broken me out either. I can’t wait to try more Kiehl’s products!
What is your favourite Kiehl’s product? What shall I try next?
